Make sure you display hidden characters because you'll need to see the Section break indicator. To turn on and off the display of hidden character you can use the Pilcrow icon, it's on the Home tab.

With hidden characters showing, you can scroll the document and locate the section break you want to remove. Just remember, removing the section break also removes the Header and Footer for that section.

    Hi John,

Why do you want to eliminate sections?

Note, every Word document has one section at a minimum.

Sometimes people have more than they need, but they can be very useful.

Suzanne has given you a definitive article

Here is a tool that was developed by MVPs to assist people dealing with problematic section problems. You may want to try it:

Here is my note on how to get rid of a section break that Word does not want to delete:

These are links to pages on one or more pages on my website and on Word MVP website(s). Those pages contain accurate safe information that I think will help you. However, as an Independent Advisor I am required to give the following notice when providing non-Microsoft links:

Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help.
