Microsoft Word Missing Toolbar/Ribbon Feature

I want to convert a table to text, but my latest version of Word (Office 365 University) does not display Table Tools.  An option is available to convert text to table, but not the reverse.   A command, "Convert Table to Text" can be added to commands from Options to the quick action toolbar, but it shows up dimmed and produces no response, when applied to a selected table.

One online tip instructs:  Click the Table Tools Layout tab. From the Table group, choose Select→Select Table.

From the Data group, choose Convert to Text. The Convert to Text dialog box appears. ...Click OK. Bye-bye, table.

A YouTube tutorial says:  "In Table Tools, open the Layout Tab."

Conversely, one online tips instructs: "In the Layout Tab (or the Design Tab)**,**open Table Tools."

Nothing works, if Word displays no Table Tools. Anyone have any ideas?

If your selection is in a table and the Table Tools tabs still don't appear, check whether they've been turned off. Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon. Change the dropdown in the top right to "Tool Tabs". In the list of tabs, make sure there's a check mark in the boxes under the Table Tools heading.

Jay, your tip made so much sense, I just knew it was the answer. Well, it turns out that ALL Tools were already checked (except Developer,) including Table Tools, and when I returned to the document, I suddenly saw Table Tools in the Blue Ribbon, along with its "Convert to Text" choice. And, it worked! I must have been missing something, somehow, and I know I had not noticed that crucial Customize Ribbon/Table Tools option, 'til I followed your instructions.  Now, the Convert to Text action will be a breeze, unless Table Tools disappears, again.

One great thing: I have some more options to play with that I hadn't known about, so you win Two prizes!  Thanks, again!

Thank you for your tip, Doug.  I was in a table, and the section was highlighted (selected), but no Table Tools showed up.
