Insert EN dash in a cell.

I want to insert an EN dash as text in a cell. Auto Format is supposed to convert ( - ) to EN dash as you type. It doesn't happen. Excel Help shows the Auto Correct dialog with an Auto Format As You Type tab that has more check-box options than mine does including a check-box to change two (--) to an EM dash. That's not quite what I want, but I have no hyphen to dash check boxes. What do I have to do to get this to work? My version of Office 365 Home is 1809.

Use File / Options / Proofing / Autocorrect Options....     In the 'Replace' box, type a dash dash dash, and in the 'With" box, hold down the Alt key and type 0150 on your number pad.  Then type three dashes when you want an en dash.

If you replace a single dash with an en dash, you will never be able to enter a subtraction formula again, but who needs to subtract in Excel?  ;)

The script Et is an ampersand & in the font that that page uses.

Codes -the value in the first column, as a four digit (padded with leading 0s) - must be entered using the Alt key if that character is not available on your keyboard.  For example, En and Em dashes are not available on most keyboards...

The OP already had two dashes assigned as an Em dash....   though it does make sense to use two for an En dash and three for an Em dash.

    Bernie

I think we should use two dashes not three

Three is the shortcut in Word for an eM dash

    cheers
