    Hi Hector,

    Thanks for the query.

From your description, you would like to create a .xlsm workbook with macros from old 97 .xls workbook. If this is the situation, I'd like to suggest the below steps:

    1. Make a copy of the old 97 workbook.
    2. Open the workbook with Excel 365, save it as .xls format and then open it, record macros and then save the workbook as . xlsm format. Reference: Automate tasks with the Macro Recorder

If there is any misunderstanding, please let us know. Besides, what is your operating system version?

    Regards,

    Tina

Thanks for your assistance Tina but you seem to have a problem understanding English, the macros are written already by espen haug and attached to a disk with his book in an 97 xls file, I am not trying to write anything at al merely copy and convert to the latest excel 365 format. You are very confused first telling me to use the macro recorder, why I am not writing macros. then you suggest put it on the programming page, Why , I am not writing macros. To reiterate , as simply as I can, I am merely copying existing macros from a 97 xls file to a office 365 excel xlsm file, it does not seem to want to happen.

The book has implied trinomial pricing, and volatilities with newtons method etc, in macros I have his 2007 book with updates but I would like these as they are simpler in some respects.
