Internal and External Distribution list

I use Distribution lists for both internal and external users.  I do NOT want random "external" people to be able to send to the group but need the people in the group to be able to reply.  If the group is set to "not allow external sender", will it or can it allow people that are external but listed in that group?  Example, I have staff with my @mydomain and my drivers all have Gmail accounts.  I have lists for both drivers and internal domain emails.  I send a daily report to all drivers (in the group) and want them to be able to reply to all if needed BUT I do not want some random address (not in the group) to be able to reply.  Kinda like if I had a group called everyone@ , I don't want some bot sending to everyone@mydomain but I do want those with gmail accounts listed in the original group to be able to send to it.  Hope that makes sense...

Hi Admin PSPI,

Thanks for the reply. If you want to restrict who can send messages to the “driver” group then need to add the same group “drivers” both senders (i.e. internal and external) to the list, they are the only ones who can send mail to the group. Mail sent by anyone not in the list will be rejected.

"Does 365 include people in the current group the ability to reply to the group regardless of if they are internal or external?  Or do they have to be specifically added to the approved list?"

If you select this option "Senders inside and outside of my organization" under Delivery management section that give the ability to reply to the group regardless of if they are any internal or external.

Best regards,

Shyamal

    Hi Admin PSPI,

If you've configured the group to allow only senders inside your organization to send messages to the group, email sent from a mail contact/external will be rejected, even if they are added to the list.

You can use Delivery management section to manage who can send email to the group via using the EAC.

By selecting this option "Senders inside and outside of my organization", you can further limit who can send messages to the group by allowing only specific senders to send messages to this group. Click +Add icon and then select those recipients. If you add senders to this list, they are the only ones who can send mail to the group. Mail sent by anyone not in the list will be rejected.

So I got that part..  I guess my question further would be this.  For the group called "drivers" that has these external emails, do I just add the same group "drivers" to that approved to send list and then in turn anyone in the group "drivers" that the email was sent to could reply to the group "drivers"?  Does 365 include people in the current group the ability to reply to the group regardless of if they are internal or external?  Or do they have to be specifically added to the approved list?  Thanks!!
