Why do I have 2 sets of licensing information in my Office 2019 apps?

Hi. I bought a new laptop with a trial version (or whatever it's called) of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019 installed, and subsequently installed Office for Home and Students 2019 using a product key purchased separately from the same retailer. I was told that the "Activation Required" notice in the Account would disappear once I successfully installed HS 2019, but instead I got this:

How do I clear the message in the yellow area? I followed the steps for uninstalling the trial Office version, but it seems the uninstall was not completely successful even though only the HS 2019 version shows in my Control Panel.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Tin

Did you use this tool from Microsoft to remove all remnants of any previous Office Installation:

    Hi Dave,

Yes, I followed the instructions on that page for uninstalling the trial version from Windows 10 (Click to Run). I got a notification that the uninstall was successful, then a few moments later received a second notification stating that some components had NOT been uninstalled (?!) Problem is, I have no idea which items those are. I opened the Start menu and found that the shortcuts for Access, Publisher, etc. (Non-HS apps) were all still present. Clicking the shortcuts showed that the apps themselves had been uninstalled.

The point is now moot since my laptop refuses to power on and needs to be replaced. Thanks anyway to those who replied, will post a different question shortly.

    Hello Charles,

Thanks and sorry for the late reply. If I do as you suggest, will my Home and Student apps also be uninstalled? And will I be able to reinstall them again?

Try using the Easy Fix tool (option 2 for msi).

You may also need to use the method for store apps to remove the trial version.
