I believe this is simple. I have a workbook with many drop down lists from many data lists (all different). I want excel to either change the color of a cell to RED when nothing is selected to alert the user that they must choose from the list OR some other option I can think of. Can someone help me out? Thank you.

To make sure something is selected in Data Validation make sure Ignore Blank (Data Validation > Settings) is NOT checked.

    To make blank cells red:

    1. Select all cells that must not be blank.
    2. Use Home (tab) > Conditional Formatting (icon) > New Rule
    3. Select Format only cells that contain
    4. In Format only Cells with: select Blanks
    5. Set format to red fill.
