Thumbnail pane in Master Slide view has vanished

I'm using Office 365 Home on Windows 10 32 bit. When I enter Slide Master view, the thumbnail pane on the left is gone without a trace and I can't find any way to get it back. I've seen similar posts from a year or more ago, and no one seems to have a definitive answer on how to get it back. I've tried deleting and restoring Outline view from the QAT, but no change in status. I'm stuck.

I figured out what made the thumbnail panel come back. It's ridiculous, and feels a bit like black magic, but it's simple and it works consistently. First, click on the Normal view icon at the BOTTOM in the status bar. Then click on Slide Master view. Behold, the beauty of thumbnails! I would be very interested to know if anyone can replicated this result.

You can show or hide slide thumbnails https://support.office.com/en-us/article/show-o... maybe your pane is hidden, please check this.

Thanks, LordAlukard, but this only describes how it *should* work, and I'm not sure it even applies to Slide Master view. In any case, there is no trace of the thumbnail panel - nothing to click on, or click and drag, no trace whatsoever. And no amount of switching between Outline or Normal view and back to Slide Master view, or removing and re-adding them to the QAT makes any difference. It's just gone. I'm baffled.

I did the whole repair thing, including downloading a fresh copy of Office and basically doing a re-install and reboot. Still no thumbnail panel. But after switching repeatedly between views, it has finally reappeared. For now.

    Please try repairing Office:

    1. In Windows, click on the Start button, then on Settings or PC Settings.
    2. Choose Apps.
    3. Scroll down to Microsoft Office 2016 (or 2019), click on it, then click on the Modify button.
    4. Choose Online Repair and click on the Repair button.
    5. Allow the process to complete, restart your computer, then see if PowerPoint has the thumbnail pane in Slide Master view.
