Hi,

I am trying to create a master project for many smaller projects that we have created, that in essence relate to the 'overall master'

I have downloaded the latest version, opened the project online into Project pro - then followed the 'help Microsoft advice' ie create projects first, and then select/create the master project. in gant view select project tab, and subproject insert - but my option is greyed out. is this because of if this is because I may not have done a crucial step o do to enable this option?

any advice is much appreciated, thank you

    Try this instead:

    1. Launch Microsoft Project and connect to Project Online.
    2. Open and check out each of the enterprise projects that you want to include in the master project.
    3. Click the View tab to display the View ribbon.
    4. In the Window section of the View ribbon, click the New Window button.
    5. In the New Window dialog, select each of the projects you have open, and then select the Gantt Chart view on the View pick list.
    6. Click the OK button.

Completing the above steps should create a master project with all of the subprojects collapsed.  If you have permissions in your Project Online system to save the master project, you should now be able to do so.  Please let us know if this helps.

    HI Tom,

    Thank you for your reply.

Sadly this hasnt helped. I am in gant chart view, with tasks added into both task timeline and gant, and still the 'insert subproject' is grey.

    Paula,

In my experience that option grays out when the active selection is not in a task table in the upper pane (e.g. Gantt Chart or Task Usage view.)

    Any help?

    Good luck, tom
