Powerpoint creates grey borders around pngs/screenshots

Hi,

I usually create presentations and export them as PDFs. I had a presentation which I modified, it was previously working fine, however now after exporting the pictures have a greyish border (see below, right) in the PDF file.

Now I played around a bit, not only if I insert screenshots directly from powerpoint but also any kind of PNG (I don't know about jpg) I seem to get this border. The only workaround is to export said screenshot as a PDF and then reinsert it into the presentation, however this is a major inconvenience (see left).

I deactivated the compression for pictures (Picture Format -> Compress picture: Picture Quality is set to original & Delete uncropped area of pictures is unchecked)

Help would be highly appreciated,

Cheers & Thanks

Bernie

    Hi Bernie,

According to your description, we understand the issue is that after exporting presentation to PDF, there are gray lines around the pictures in the PDF file. (regarding the image you provided, we suppose the one on the right side is the picture in PDF)

Are you using Mac OS Mojave?

Recently we received a similar issue that after updating to Mac OS Mojave, when we export presentations with pictures to PDF files, there will be some grey lines around of the pictures in PDF files.

If you are using Mojave, we'd like to let you know that we have reported the issue to our related team for further investigation, they are actively working on the issue. And we have set a primary thread for it:

When I export my powerpoint to pdf, a random border pops up around all of my images

We suggest you subscribe the primary thread by click the 3 dots next to I have the same question and click Subscribe.

When we get any updated information from the related team, we will post in that thread and let you know.

If you are not using Mac OS Mojave, please post back and share the following information with us, we will help you troubleshoot the issue accordingly:

1.The detailed version of your Office. (click PowerPoint menu>About Microsoft PowerPoint)

2.Your Mac version. (Apple menu>About This Mac)

3.Does the issue happen when you export the specific presentation to PDF? What about other presentations?

4.How do you insert the picture into presentation? Via Insert>Insert pictures>Picture from file or directly copy, then paste picture in presentation?

    Regards,

    Tina
