how do i send files directly from my pc as docx?

I have the same issue with my laptop with Office 365 on it, my other laptop which has Office 2016 Profesional on in doesn't have the issue! This is ridiculous! I paid for the 365 service which is not cheap for a student like me! I have looked everywhere on this forum and find nothing. Never been this disappointed with a company like microsoft

If the doc is open, File>Share......... to email it as an attachment
Or select the doc in file explorer, select the file>rt click>send to
docx is effectively a zip file as you can see if you open it with a zip utility such as WinZip or WinRar. I cannot imagine why any application would change its extension, but if it has, you can change it back to docx. More likely docx is not associated with Word on the device where this is an issue.

this novelty still does not seem to be available in the web version of WhatsApp. If a person sends us a file in one of these formats, WhatsApp Web will be limited to inform us of the arrival of the file by means of a message, but to download it we will have no choice but to reach for our mobile device.
