Comments not appearing in Word

Until yesterday, all my Comments showed in a Comment panel to the right of the text. 

Each Comment showed in a balloon connected to the selected text being commented on.

Suddenly I am seeing only the first line of each Comment. (I can see full Comment if I click on small triangle to the right, but only one at a time.)

I was able to adjust some settings so I see full text of Comments, but they are not visually connected to text until I move mouse over Comment or until I click on it. 

Even then, in one document that works for first 2 pages, but not on subsequent pages which only show first line.  There are no section or page breaks involved. 

How do I reset to original settings so I (and others I send file to) see all Comments in balloons connected to appropriate text?

    Hi WordUser39,

    Have you tried changing the Display for Review option to All Markup? If not, on the Review tab, click the Display for Review drop down which is set to Simple Markup by default, and select All Markup. This will show the lines that are connected to the corresponding texts.

    Otherwise, you can follow Doug's advice above to send a sample file for further investigation.

    Still have the problem with the one document.  I have tried various combinations of settings in Tracking section.  Still seeing the Comments on first 2 pages, but not seeing lines connecting Comment to text until mouse scrolls over the Comment.  I used to see the text to which the Comment relates being highlighted; not seeing that now.

    On third page, only seeing first line (often just a word or two) of Comment.  Can see entire text of Comment by clicking on small triangle to right.

    I would need to redact this file before sending it.

    I'll monitor what happens in other files going forward and get back to you if issue(s) don't get resolved.

    (I am assuming I should still be able to see full text of Comment and connection to relevant text -- which includes highlighting and dotted line.  If that has changed in Word lately, please advise.

    Yes, this is still how it works, depending on your settings.

    You need to authorize display of comments in balloons. This is the default.

    See this thread for some other options for displaying comments.
