"Data Types" (Stocks & Geography) are missing from my Data Tab - new 365 Install over Office 2016

I having been running Windows 7 with Office 2016 but wanted to add the Data Types flexibility to Excel.  I installed Office 365 but the Data Types group does not appear. I then uninstalled Office 2016 and 365 and then reinstalled 365.  Still no Data Types group.

I have version 1812 Build 11126.20196 Monthly Channel.

On a second PC with Windows 10,  I have a fresh 365 install (no prior Office version installed).  That PC has the same version and build but it does have the Data Types group.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for writing back to us and sorry for the delay response.

Yes, it is related to the sign-in with your Office 365 account and as we mentioned earlier data types are available if you have English editing language. When we tested at our end by signing out from Office applications, data types are disabled.

So, summarizing all the conditions required for data types to be enabled:

  1. Office 365 subscriber.
  2. English editing langauge.
  3. Sign in with Office 365 subscription account.

Thanks,

Chitrahaas

I am having the same problem, I have Office 365 Subscription, I am logged in with my Account (User Information shows my name and email address), and obviously, I am using English editing language, but the Data Types is still NOT enabled in Excel.  I am on Version 1808 (Build 10730.20264 Click-to-Run).  I have tried Office Updates, and it keeps saying that I am on the latest version.

Ps.  I logged out and logged back in twice and I confirmed that my language was English (United States)

    Hello Chitrahaas,

Your information made progress, but did solve the problem.

Data Types were not present under Main Tabs> Data.  But I did locate Data Types under All Commands.

When I selected Data Types under All Commands and attempted to add them to the Data Tab I was informed that "Commands need to be added to custom groups.  To create a group, pick a tab in the list, then click New Group".

So I selected the Data Tab then New Group and added Data Types to the New Group.

On the worksheet Data Tab I now see New Group showing Data Types however the Data Types selection is greyed out.

Please advise how I might un-grey the Data Types.

    Thanks

    Ken

Yes, that seems to be the solution.  Sign out - sign back in.

    Hi Bonker,

From the description provided, we can understand the situation at your end and as we cannot reproduce this issue at our end, we suggest you check the following:

Initially check whether Data Types is enabled or added in the Data Tab.

For doing it: Open Excel application> File> Options> Customize Ribbon> Under Customize the Ribbon, select the Main Tabs> Click on + symbol beside the Data> check whether Data Types is present or not.

If the Data Types is not present, check whether Data Types is present under Choose commands from. (Select All Commands under Choose commands from) If still Data Type doesn’t present.

As mentioned in article, it stated that Data types have been released to all Windows Office 365 subscribers, except in a few geopolitical locations.

    Regards,

    Chitrahaas
