Microsoft Teams - Assignment "Turn in" Notification

I am a teacher using Microsoft Teams in the classroom. Is there a way to have Teams notify me when a student turns in an assignment? It could be a message in Outlook, an alert, or a badge icon in teams. Anything would be helpful.

I ended up putting an alert on the Student Work > Submitted Files folder in SP. It sends me an email alert when a file is added to the folder, meaning that a student has submitted work. The problem is that it doesn't tell me which student submitted work to one of the 23 student folders.

What's interesting is that the specific change that took place (i.e. Which student submitted which document.) is listed in the details pane. Good for me because I can just click on the details pane links and get to the document. **On the other hand, it is still a pain in the a_s to have to jump through these hoops to get information that should be standard in any software that purports to be designed for classroom use.**The information is available through Share Point and there should be a way to make easy assignment alerts in teams.

I'm glad what I suggested worked for you. An alert is a predefined workflow and to customize what is included in the email, you would need to create a new workflow. I suggest when you're on the SP library page, click "return to classic". Classic sites have far more options and flexibility than the modern sites. Now you can create a new workflow in SP Designer - if you're not familiar with it, it's a free editing program for SP.

The workflow will consist roughly of:

    Action: send an email

    To: your email address

Body: include the created by field (the student) and the url of the document uploaded

As I think about it you may run into a problem opening this site in SPD because it's a modern site. In that case you can try to replicate the above in "Flow" which I'm not familiar with. Googling for info may help.

"On the other hand, it is still a pain in the a_s to have to jump through these hoops to get information that should be standard in any software that purports to be designed for classroom use. "

I agree - Msft is not good at user experience or thinking through how something might be used in the real world.

it's not feasible to achieve this goal in Microsoft Teams for EDU, given this situation , I suggest you submit your feedback via the link below:

I'm not sure that's correct. After all, Teams is just a "skin" sitting on top of a SP site with each team getting a site and each channel a folder in the docs library. So if you "open in SP" from the ellipsis, you can set an alert on the library (or folder) and you'll be emailed when new content is added/changed.

    Hi Webbrewser,

Thanks for your posting. Yes, we can create an alert to get notified when a file or folder changes in SharePoint, but what Kerry used is Microsoft Teams for EDU, Based on my test, it's not feasible for teacher to receive the email notification if his student turn in assignment.

    Thanks,

    Bryan
