I NEED to insert text inside a picture in Word 2016. Has this problem been corrected yet??? I'm on a trial of the 2016 version and WILL NOT purchase it if this has not been corrected. Please advise asap...this is for a Christmas gift.

See the little Layout Options box that pops up when you select one? It gives you access to this.

It is also on the Format tab that shows up when you have an image or a textbox selected.

Note the Format tabs are different tabs even if they appear in the same place, have the same name, and look similar. They are contextual tabs and are different for pictures and text boxes.

If both the picture and the textbox are in-line-with-text, you cannot overlay them. If both are floating chances are that the one you add second will be able to be put in front of the one you added first.

With both floating, you can use the bring backward/ forward commands.

Picture is set as in-line-with text. Text box floats over the top.

I tried that, to no avail. It will allow me to insert a text box ABOVE the picture, but not OVERLAY on the picture itself. I understand this was easy on older versions of Word, but I can’t get it to work on 2016 edition. Any ideas?

    Hi Carla,

You can easily type text on top of a picture in Word. Use a text box without a boundary.

    Insert > Text Box

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help.

    Regards
