Excel 2016 AddIns do not stay loaded

I recently started having this issue on a Win10 Pro 64-bit laptop with Office 365 32-bit installed.

My addins do not stay loaded. Even though they are "selected" in the addin manager, there is nothing loaded. In the VBA IDE, there is no code, no password protected addins, like you normally see. I usually have the Analysis Toolpak and Solver loaded. Neither of these will load. I also have my own custom addins that do not stay loaded either. This is not related to the security issues that required me to uncheck the security in the file properties. I also have all the locations of these addins in my Trusted Locations in trust center. I really didnt change anything. they just stopped loading.

Excel takes an unusually long time to load when it does this.  Oddly, if I log out or reboot, the addins return. Somewhere along the way, this stops.

Hi Peter,

For the Solver add-in issue, have you uninstalled and reinstalled the add-in to check the result? If you need further help on this issue, welcome to post back at your convenience.

Thanks,

Cliff

Cliff,

I appreciate your responses to this matter. For what it is worth, I have found, at the very least, the cause of this, and a workaround. The problem, is indeed, some sort of conflict with Google Drive File Stream. In my Google Drive File Stream Settings, I have disabled this feature, and the add-in loading problem goes away.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your updates.

For the issues for custom add-ins you created, I suggest you post a new thread in the Microsoft Office Programming category which is a specific category for development solution issues in Office applications on our forum for expert help.

About the issue that the Solver add-in can’t stay loaded, could you upload some related screenshots? I suggest you navigate to Options>Add-ins>Excel Add-ins>Go>uncheck Solver add-in >OK , then check it and restart the Excel 2016 application to see the result.

Could you also upload a full screenshot of the Account page in the Excel 2016 application you are using for our reference? You can access the page via File>Account.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

Thanks,

Cliff

    Hi, Cliff

This issue does not discriminate MS supplied addins vs. 3rd party addins. This problem occurs with Solver.xlam and any custom addins I have built.

One thing I notice...in the VBA IDE, I can see and expose FuncRes.xlam and ProcDB.xlam. I dont recall being able to do this previously, and I do not even know what PROCDB.XLAM is.

    Hi Peter,

From your description, it seems that the add-ins return after you reboot the Excel 2016 application and can’t stay loaded after some time. About the issue, could you upload some related screenshots? As Analysis Toolpak and Solver can be loaded in your environment,  for clarification, I’d like to confirm what add-ins can’t stay loaded in your environment. If they are all third-party add-ins, I suggest you turn to the add-in suppliers for expert help.

    Thanks,

    Cliff
