Can you show us a mock-up of the layout that you are trying to achieve? Possibly a two column table may be a better option than a text box.

Does anyone have information on the following.
I have a text that has paragraphs with headings I want a TOC but in a text box inserted by the side of the text.
I am using Word in Office 365. Maybe I should use Publisher?
Help would be appreciated!

Hi
What is preventing you from inserting your TOC in a textbox?
Note that a TOC may be multiple pages but a textbox will only display on one page.
A Table of Contents (TOC) is a field inserted with switches to identify which items in the text should be displayed. By default it displays things that are in Heading Styles.
