Change from office 365 64 bit to 32 bit

I recently purchased and installed office 365 on a new windows 10 computer. I am having problems running WORD templates. It's a conflict since the templates are written for 32 bit. Can I change from my 64 bit new install to 32 bit? How?

I agree with Doug Robbins, there should be no need to change to 32-bit to use templates unless they contain fairly sophisticated macros.

I personally prefer to run the 32-bit version because I do use some old Add-In templates that have code that will not run in the 64-bit version. While I am not alone in this, most users can use either version. The documents and templates, as Word files, should  work fine in either version, though.

    Hi Trent

Yes, you can change to the 32bit version, your licence covers both versions

You would need to completely uninstall Office 365 and then install the 32bit version . .

Use this tool from Microsoft to remove all remnants of the previous Office Installation:

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Uninst...

Go to http://www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in

On the Office home page, select Install Office - Install

What happens when you try to create documents from the templates by using File>New and then selecting a template?

Do the templates contain macros?  If the templates do not contain macros, there should be no difference in using them on either 32-bit or 64-bit.

If you send me a copy of one of the templates, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

Templates on their own should be "bit independent".  The exception would be if they include macros.

Exactly why do you think you have to switch to 32 bit?

A couple of months ago MS changed it's default Office install to 64 bit on 64 bit Windows. So simply doing an uninstall and install from the MyAccount site won't work.  You have to drill down in the MyAccount site to find the "Offline Installer" option.  On that page, one of the options you explicitly select is 32 vs 64 bit.  This page describes how to do that:
