Office Auto-update keeps re-installing the same update: 16.25.0

Office Auto-update repeatedly asks to install the same update: 16.25.0. It goes through the process, says "done," then proposes doing it all over again. I went through the cycle 3 times before paying closer attention to the update version. Looking at the app itself in Finder, it appears 16.25 has been installed successfully. The Update app just doesn't seem to know that....

I think I figured out the problem. I have Excel & Word icons in my Dock. Every now and then I'll launch one of those apps and then notice that there is a second Excel or Word icon at the end of the Dock (in addition to the ones I placed there in another location). That happened again today. It appeared that I was running two instances of Excel, because there was a black dot under each one.

I went looking in my Applications folder and found that I had some additional copies of the Office apps. Normally I keep my Office 365/Mac Office 2016 apps inside a folder inside the Applications folder named "Microsoft Office 2016 (Mac)" (because I also have VMWare and the Windows versions of the same apps). I found that I had some 16.24 version apps inside my usual folder and some 16.25 files both inside and outside it (in the main Applications folder), so I guess the AutoUpdate program got confused by my folder organization. Anyway, I've now deleted the older versions and moved the newer versions inside my preferred folder and all seems to be OK (though after 5 seconds of testing).

I clicked on your link and could tell it was a later 4.10 build than the one I had, so I updated the updater. At first it told me I had no updates, but after quitting and then relaunching the new updater, it told me that the same two Office updates were available. After going through the process, I wound up in the same situation. It said it installed the 16.25.0 updates but then when all was done, it wanted to download & install them again. See screenshot (with latest version of AutoUpdate).

FWIW, I'm having the same problem, and I already have AutoUpdate version 4.10 (I haven't tried reinstalling the AutoUpdate program).

I also let the updater run 2-3 times before noticing that it was trying to reinstall the same 16.25.19051201 updates. The only thing I've tried so far is rebooting the Mac, but it didn't fix anything. The next time I checked for Office updates, it seemed to download & install the 16.25.19051201 updates listed below, then said it was done, and then offered to do the same updates all over again.
