With the doc open use 'Save As' or Print to, and select the required type

It is not possible to select the format of the PDF when using the Microsoft Print to PDF "printer",  It must be done by accessing the Options dialog after selecting PDF (*.pdf) from the Save as type dropdown in the Save As dialog.

    Hello,

My name is Sam and I'm a fellow customer and expert user. Are you still looking for help?

I save Word documents as PDF files regularly by opening the document up in Word (Office 365), then selecting File> Clicking "Save As"> Then clicking the drop-down file type selector to Select "PDF (*.pdf)> Then Click the Save button.

For Excel, you'll have to Click File> Then Click Export> Next, Click Create PDF/XPS> Then Click Publish (note it will be saving as a .pdf file)

I hope this helps you out. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Sam Thoms

You missed the step of clicking on the Options button and then checking the box for "PDF/A compliant" under the PDF options section of the Options dialog.
