Paper Sizes in Microsoft Office

Anonymous
2019-08-05T21:47:07+00:00

Only 2 paper sizes are available on page setup. I used Word this morning. And then i tried a second document this afternoon; in attempting to choose an A5 size, only 2 sizes were available, A4 and Letter. All the other variations have disappeared. I have tried re-installing, but this has made no difference. It is the same situation with Excel.

Secondly, hyperlinks do not automatically format as such. I have to right click and manually create the link.

What is the fix?

THANK YOU

To remove any redundant printer drivers, access the Control Panel>Devices and Printers and right click on any printer that you no longer want to appear and the click on Remove Device.

The paper size issue is almost certainly caused by an issue with the Printer driver for the Printer that is selected as the Active Printer.  What do you have set as the Active Printer in Word?

For the hyperlink issue, click on the Office button and then on Options > Proofing

Click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

Check the "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks" check box.

    Hello Doug

Thanks for the prompt response. A while back i had a problem with the printer on WiFi. HP's chat people walked me through a fix, but i ended up with 3 versions of the printer (as available in Office). Yesterday when i had the paper size problem i again re-installed the printer.

I have just checked the printer page and only the latest version is listed; the other copies had disappeared (rightly so).

Then i opened a Word doc and opened the print page. SAll the optional printers were still listed there. I selected the latest one and exited. Then i went to page layout in Word and the paper sizes were once again listed.

Now, how can i delete the incorrect printers from the Word menu? Right-click+ delete does not work.

So your advice was sufficient for me to trace the problem.

    Thanks very much
