I have created a resume yesterday via word 365 and I have just tried to open it and edit and it is saying compatibility mode.

I have followed instructions by going to the info option and then converting but the option isn't there.

Tried to copy and paste it into a new word document to just start again and it still wont let me edit new doc's.

What could be going on?

    Hi ClareDuncan1,

I'm Tyler, an independent advisor trying to help.

If MS Word opens your documents in Compatibility Mode instead of as a normal document, follow these steps.

First, open the document. it will show Compatibility Mode in the top of the window.

Then, click file on the ribbon menu. After that, click Convert.

This will convert the file to the new format.

The [compatibility mode] message will now be removed and the file is now a regular Word file with the .docx file extension.

There's another method, try this if the first one didn't help.

First, click the File tab next go to Options and click Save option, then Save files in this format.

    After that, save as *.DOCX“

    I hope this helps you.

    Best Regards,

    Tyler.

Just because a document opens in compatibility mode should not prevent you from editing it.  So, are you able to edit the document?

If you cannot edit it, if you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.
