Why is my One Drive full when I've already deleted all its files?

I try to keep my One Drive pretty empty. I move everything off it once a month. But I'm constantly told it's still full, even though I don't see more than a hand full of small files at any one time. Is there a hidden folder for deleted files? Is my One Drive being used for something else I don't know about?

If you have a win10 PC you will have OneDrive as part of Win and OneDrive Business as part of Office 365

And if you dont use OneDrive then set the default save locations in the Options of your Office Components

Thank you! It is a Win 10 PC. I don't use One drive for anything but uploading photographs and videos until I get time to more them to my PC. After I move them off, there are literally no files left on my One Drive that I can see, yet I keep getting a "One Drive nearly full" message.

    Hi NoelSquitieri,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

In OneDrive, there is no hidden folder for deleted files, all the deleted files will show in the OneDrive Recycle Bin. If you can't see the files in recycle bin, it has been deleted after 93 days.

Based on your error message, it says your OneDrive is full. I want to confirm that where you get this error message? When you want to upload or delete files?

We suggest you go to OneDrive Recycle bin and empty recycle bin. (Please restore the files which is important to you then empty the recycle bin.) Delete items or empty the Recycle Bin of a SharePoint site

And make sure you still have free storage in OneDrive. We suggest you go to OneDrive Online-> Gear icon-> OneDrive setting-> More Settings-> Storage Metricsto check if you have extra storage in the right up corner.

If you still have this error message, please provide the screenshot of it to help us move further.

    Regards,

    Ivy

Good question. Other than upgrading to Windows 10, my computer is completely as shipped to me by HP. If I search for "Office" on my PC, I'm only offered the opportunity to buy it. But it came with Word, WordPad, Excel, and so on already installed.

I think I know where this is going, because all these applications default to save files on One Drive, but I don't have any idea where to change the default save locations.

Just what files will be deleted if I let Windows clean up my One Drive for me?

    Thanks!

    Hi NoelSquitieri,

Have you tried my suggestion?  Can you upload items to OneDrive now?

If the issue still persists, can you please provide the information I mentioned in the last post? Then we can understand this issue and move further.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Regards,

    Ivy
