Watermark in Word document not shown

I made a document and added a Watermark to it (Design --> Watermark). Only part of the Watermark is shown, where no text is shown. How can I get the Watermark to show under the text, but still be visible?

Thanks for your reply. It did not solve my problem. I even found the webpage before I asked this question, by searching for it on the Internet. I added the Watermark, but the greater part of it falls behind my written text and is therefore not visible.

Make sure that the text does not have any shading (paragraph or character shading). If it is in a text box, make sure the text box fill is set to No Fill.

The watermark should be occluded by the text but be visible in the background.

When you print, is the watermark blocked or just on screen?

A screen shot might help us help you.

How to include a screenshot in your post - Microsoft Community

It is possible that your text is in a shape or a table that has a white background that blocks the watermark.

Watermarks are images that are in the header. The header acts like a base layer for your text. If there is something in the text layer that blocks it, you will not see it. The something may be white and so not otherwise noticeable. Elements in a header are faded when viewing on the screen by design.

How does your watermark display, exactly? Perhaps you could upload a screen shot.

Here is what I see when I insert the built-in "DRAFT" watermark:

The watermark is supposed to be "washed out," but it should be possible to read it behind the text...

As Suzanne and Charles have suggested, perhaps some shading have been applied to the text in the main body.
