Then it seems Word is having trouble communicating with Outlook. There are two utilities I'd like you to try.

First, run the Outlook Reset Preferences tool, and then the Set Default Mail App tool.

    Can you open Microsoft Word?

The feature you want is on the File menu. Choose Share > Send as either attachment or HTML.

    Hi Briarcliff,

If you are seeing an unexpected behavior when interacting with attachments from the drop-down menu in Outlook for mac, please see this article for detail information.

Further, from your post, your requirement/issue is not very clear. May I ask for the detail information? It would be helpful if you can provide us with some related screenshots of the error and please confirm the version of your Office for mac applications.

    Regards,

    Neha

I should add I have a MacBook Pro.  In my accounts I only show Outlook 365 as the email app, and it is set as default.   File has been saved many times.
