Newly installed font not displaying properly in Word 2016 but can be seen in font settings and Windows Font Viewer

I installed a font (.otf) that can be viewed in the Font Settings and in the Windows Font Viewer, as well as in websites where I can upload font files to see them. However, when I try to use the font in Word 2016, it is displayed in Arial.

I tested this with another downloaded font and the same thing happened. The font also doesn't display on Excel or Powerpoint, though on Powerpoint some of the ligatures have an effect (the result looks like two characters squashed together.)

I have checked the windows registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts) and the font file doesn't seem to be there, but from what I can see only .ttf files can be seen there, so I'm not sure whether this is relevant.

Edit: I have installed the .otf file on another computer and it works in Word 2016 on that computer, so it is probably something to do with my computer and not the font file.

I solved the problem, turns out the font worked after I deleted some metadata on the font regarding who designed it and the url linked to the website I downloaded it from. Thanks for your help anyway!

Is it the same Windows version? Same Office versione? If you can share the font I can have a look at it and check but otherwise the issue can be related to anything. I still think its more a font compatibility issue then your PC directly, it happens a lot with free fonts.

Sometimes it's an issue with the font implementation. Try downloading the free ROBOTO font from google https://www.maketecheasier.com/use-google-robot... which I just tried and works and check if you get the same result.

The steps shown in the video were the steps I used to install the font. I have tried restarting the computer, both normally and in safe mode.
