OneNote iOS iPad unable to insert meeting details

Recently OneNote on iOS was updated with the ability to insert meeting details from Outlook meetings.

I have tried this with my work O365 account, and cannot get past the authentication stage.

I am logged in to OneNote using my work O365 account and can open/edit my OneNote files without any issues.

When I open any note and try and insert meeting details, I get prompted to authenticate again, in a popup window, and then proceeds to re-authenticate using O365 credentials, then an error message appears "you cant get there from here" see screenshot.

I have asked a few colleages around here to try and replicate the issue with their devices and accounts, and we all have the same issue appearing.

Does anyone now how to insert the meeting details from a work O365 account successfully?

Thanks in advance,

Robert.

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for the update information.

According to the error message you've received,  "You cannot access the resource from this browser on your device", this is most likely your organization has enable a series of policy controls on the Microsoft Intune.

    Microsoft Intune Azure Portal

To be specific, they might have deployed some related policies under Conditional Access, you could check the article below for more information:

Manage web access using a Microsoft Intune policy-protected browser

Please confirm with your organization's Office 365 IT staff about this. I think this issue might be caused for the in-app prompt sign-in window is not recognized as a protected browser in Microsoft Intune.

We will keep monitoring on this thread, please come back to us when you got any updates on this issue.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen

    Hi Alex,

Update on this - it is now working!

Didnt get any joy from internal IT department to look into the problem, which is fine as its probably only impacting a small number of folks and they have limited resources, however

After updating to the October 2019 (16.30) release of Office apps for iPadOS, and updating to iPadOS 13.1.3 this morning, i can now

    • open OneNote app
    • open a note
    • try to insert meeting details
    • authenticate with my company account in the popup window (including their 2FA)
    • meeting details appear and can be inserted

So not sure what happened, as i tried last month and it was still not working, but happy to see things are now working as expected!

    Regards,

    Rob.

    Hi Robert,

I go through your post. Per this article: Potential reasons for the "You can't get there from here" error message the issue may be related to your organization policy setting. When you want to insert meeting details into OneNote, OneNote will try to get data from your Outlook. Thus, there is a pop-up asking you to sign in with your work or school account. it is may also be the reason why you and your colleagues can repro the issue, but Robinson cannot.

To narrow down the issue, could you please try to open and sign in Outlook in Safari on iPad?

Welcome to post back if there is any update, we will help you as far as we can.

    Regards,

    Clark Cui

    Hi Robinson,

This error has been reproduced here on many iPads running iOS 12.4 and also with an iPad running iOS 13 (public beta 6)

    All with OneNote 16.28 (190809)

    Regards,

    Robert.

    Hi Rob__W,

The issue may be related to your browser. I tested on my side and I cannot repro the issue, my version of IOS is 12.4 and OneNote version is 16.28. I suggestion you update to latest version of IOS and try again.

For further troubleshoot, could you please provide your version of IOS and version of OneNote?

    Regards,

    Robinson
