AADSTS9002313: Invalid request. Request is malformed or invalid.

Hi,

When trying to open an Excel or Word file from OneDrive under one Office 365 account "A", when it gets to Excel/Word it gives the error "AADSTS9002313: Invalid request. Request is malformed or invalid.", which I believe is because Excel/Word on the laptop is using a different Office 365 account "B".

Under the forum Question below, it gets fixed by using the "registry recovery tool".  What is this tool, and can I use it to fix this issue as it sounds like the same reasons for the issue!

Many thanks!

    Hi Nina,

Sorry, yes we do still need help, but now I'm not getting access to the laptop until next week I'm afraid.  Are you okay to wait until then?

    Many thanks,

    James

    Hi James_110,

May I know have you tried sign out your account from all Office application and then sign back in again? If not, you can try it to check the result: File > Account > User Information > Sign out

In addition, you can also clear credentials to check whether it can solve this issue:

    1. Sign out and close Office programs

2.Open Start, enter Control Panel>User and Accounts> Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > General credentials. Delete Microsoft Office related credentials.

    1. Sign back in

    Like the below picture:

If you still need help, in order to help you effectively, could you provide the following information”

    Hello James_110,

According to your description, it seems that you are using different account in Office applications. If this is your scenario, I suggest you sign out your account from all Office application and then sign back in again to check the results(make sure you use only one account in Office). Meanwhile, please also make sure you are using the latest version of Office suits.

Although the symptom is the same as the original thread owner you provided, the root cause behind could be different. Therefore, to better help you, we would like to collect some additional information for further analysis:

    1. We need to collect the related log to investigate it. Please kindly follow the steps I provided in Private Message.
    2. If it is convenience, could you provide us a screenshot of the error message?
    3. How long has this problem going on? To identify if it is related to one specific device, I also suggest you try to sign into another computer with you account to check the results.

    Best Regards,

    Sylvie

    Hi Nina,

I did reply to Sylvie Liang in a private message, so not sure if you saw that reply or not?

Yes, I've tried signing out of the office applications and signing back in again, but this didn't work.  It's actually a colleagues computer who isn't in the office at present, so I can't delete the Microsoft office related credentials currently, although I think it's a conflict when using the two office 365 accounts, so I don't believe this would fix this issue, as independently they both work fine!?

Office 365 is Version 1906 (Build: 11727.20104 Click-to-Run), although Excel and Word both also say "Office 365 MSC (16.0.11727.20086) - 32 bit.

The screenshot of the error message is below:

Is it not worthwhile investigating the "registry recovery tool" in the forum question mentioned before:

This sounds like exactly the same issue!

    Many thanks again,

    James.
