Office apps won't open, says office is updating

When I click on Word or PowerPoint or any office app, I get a message that office is updating and to please wait a moment. After I wait, I get the following winword.exe -- application error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close application. Thus ends any attempt to open any office document.

Hello Swedhead

I am V. Arya, Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. Let's try repair first.

Press Windows key, hold it and press r to open Run window.

Type appwiz.cpl and press enter

This will open Uninstall or change a program window

Click Office in the list of program

Click Change at top

Select Online repair

Restart your computer once Online repair is finished.

Let me know the outcome.

If Repair doesn't work as repair sometimes works for this problem and sometimes doesn't as reported on the forums here, then you need to uninstall and reinstall Office again -
