Microsoft apps turning grey when I click from one screen to another.

I have a user that is using a duel monitor setup on Windows 7, whenever the user clicks from one screen to another the Microsoft apps on the other screen go grey and you are unable to see them.

I have also run a Microsoft office repair along with any updates to windows and the drivers on the computer but still getting the same issue. This makes it very hard to multitask when having multiple programs open at the same time.

    Dear LU Matty FC,

    Thanks for your updates.

I’d like you to check whether you are using the latest version of the Office applications. If no, I suggest you update the version, restart the computer and then do a test to see the result. About running an Office repair, please check whether you go to Control Panel with the computer administrator right>Programs>right-click on the Office applications’ icon>Change>Online Repair. If no , do that as well to see the result.

I also suggest you reconnect the external monitor, set up the dual monitor via the steps in the article and then log into the computer with another local user account to see if the issue happens.  As the issue seems to happen in multiple users in your company, I suggest you click on File>Feedback>Send a Frown as soon as possible to report the issue to our related team directly so that they can involve more resources on checking the issue in your environment further.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff

This does only happen when 2 office programs are open on 2 different screens, so if you click from 1 screen that has MS Word on there to the second monitor that has MS Powerpoint on there, MS Word will go completely grey. This does not happen if you click on a window with the internet on there for example.

Does this not indicate that it is an issue with MS Office and not Windows/Hardware?

    Thanks

    Dear LU Matty FC,

First I’d like you to first check whether the issue only happens when you are using the Office applications and check whether the issue only happens in the specific computer the user is using. If yes, the issue may be related to some settings issues in the computer. I suggest you post a new thread in the Windows category on our forum for better help.

Meanwhile, I suggest you reboot your computer and then log into the computer with another local user account to see if the issue happens.

Moreover, I suggest you reconnect the external monitor to see the result as well.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff

as mentioned in my post this is not an issue with my system but internally with a single user in the company, I have already run all driver updates on the system along with updates for window 7 (which there are not any)

Using win10 and 365 Bus on a multi-monitor desktop I cannot replicate your issue (Previously had win7, also no issues)

Frequently have multiple Excel docs on both screens.

This is not an office issue but will be your win7 sys/drivers
