What is the shortcut to view the format paragraph window? Command + D brings up the format font window, so what is it for format paragraph? I think it used to be something like option + command + D or option + command + M, but I'm not quite sure. Thank you!

I'm using word for Mac 2016

Command + Option + M opens the Format Paragraph dialog.

You should be able to assign a keyboard shortcut for the Paragraph dialog box (see https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-a-custom-keyboard-shortcut-for-Word-for-Mac-3e865725-831c-4b45-9187-eeaf896fa110). Assuming that the command is the same as in the Windows version, you should look for FormatParagraph in the list of Word commands.

    Hi

On the Windows version there is no built-in shortcut. I've assigned Alt+P to it on my machine. Apparently there is, though on the Mac.

What could interfere with this would be an Add-In or something in your Normal.dotm file. Stefan's suggestion of assigning a shortcut is the simplest solution. As to why, you could try renaming your normal.dotm file and, if that does not restore it, disabling Add-Ins.

    John,

I've been trying that for a while and what happens is the window is minimized instead of opening the format paragraph dialog. I also checked the customize keyboard settings and found that the format paragraph shortcut is currently listed as Command + Option

    • M, indicating that the shortcut should work. Any ideas?

    Stefan,

Thanks for the response. As I also wrote in reply to John, when I followed the steps outlined in the link you sent the current shortcut to open the format paragraph dialog is set to Command + Option + M, like I thought it was. Any ideas on why it may not be working?
