How to Prevent Double-Bookings in Office 365 Calendar?

Dear MS expert,

Currently we are using Outlook on O365. We have created our meeting rooms as resources. We are convincing our peoples to reserve meeting room online. The problem is the 1st person books a meeting room #1, let say during 9:00AM - 10:00AM. However, 2nd person can also book this particular meeting room#1 at the same time period without any warning or error msg.

How to prevent this situation? I used to see it can be blocked the double-booking in my previous company. Thanks so much in advance.

Correct, it  would be the allow conflicts parameter. Also, users need to invite the resource, not open the calendar and book directly on the resource calendar.

    Set-CalendarProcessing "Resource name" -AllowConflicts $false

It can take a couple of hours for the permission to fully propagate.

    Hi Sherwin,

Thanks for your suggestion. Understanding that you suggested to setup at the client side. I would like to find the solution at the resource side, to not show unavailable meeting room (resources) at that time period or not allow reserved meeting room.

The office 365 administrator will need to change calendar options to refuse double bookings - -https://docs.microsoft.com/powershell/module/exchange/mailboxes/set-calendarprocessing?view=exchange-ps

You can't block it from being shown in room finder but it will only show available times.

    Hi Jarupeanleart,

Yes, you may need to access the resource side and configure its scheduling options from there.

    Hi Jarupeanleart,

I'm Sherwin. I would like to help you on this.

For you to avoid double bookings, access the meeting rooms and the meeting rooms scheduling options need to be configured then select setting you would require.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you
