Excel 'Find and Replace' cursor no longer staying in search box

Hello,

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem or knows how to fix?  About a week ago this change began.  Previously I will click Ctrl F to pull up the find box.   I was able to type in the word and then click enter.  From this point I would be able to click on the backspace button and clear out the contents and type in a new search without closing out of the find box.  (I'm searching names and just need to verify that they are on the spreadsheet.  I'm not editing in between each search all the time).  Now, the cursor disappears after the search word is typed in and entered.  I have to either click ESC and Ctrl F again or take the mouse and click back in the search box.  The extra clicks needed now is really annoying as I have to use this through out the day.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Was there an update that changed it?

Thank you,

Omg, yes - exactly this, Tara!  I manage what is currently a 15,000-line spreadsheet with weekly additions searching by facility number to get to the correct place in the spreadsheet.  This is such a small thing but SO incredibly annoying.

Microsoft, bring back the cursor in the Find and Replace box in Excel, please!  And thank you.

The only thing I could come up with so far which is still really annoying, but at least you don't have to ESC out and reclick CTRL F again or move the cursor back in via the mouse is to click the TAB button three times which will bring the cursor back into the box.  After asking around, I found that it is everyone in our office as well.

    Dear Tara,

I can’t reproduce such an issue in my environment currently. I’d like you to confirm when the issue happened and whether you are using the latest version of the Excel 2016 application. If you aren’t using the latest version, I suggest you update the version, restart the computer and do a test to see the result. Meanwhile, upload a full screenshot of the Account page in the Excel 2016 application you are using. You can access the page via clicking on File>Account.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

Moreover, I suggest you go to Control Panel>Programs>right-click on the Office applications’ icon>Change>Online Repair and then do a test to see the result. To check if the issue is related to the mouse or the USB interface, I suggest you use a new mouse or change a USB interface to insert your mouse to see the result.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff

    Dear Tara,

Are you the administrator of your computer? If yes, you can click on Programs>Change>Online Repair to run an Online Repair to see the result.

Meanwhile, as the new version of the Office applications has been released, I suggest you contact the company IT administrator if needed and update the version to the latest version to see the result.

For your reference: Update history for Office 365 ProPlus (listed by date)

Moreover, to check if the issue is related to the USB interface, I suggest you use another USB interface to insert your mouse to see the result.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff

    Good Morning Cliff,

Thank you for your assistance.  I tried updating via my Account Page, but it stated that everything was up to date.  I went ahead and restarted, but the issue still persists.

I tried going into Office Applications>Online Repair, but it did not give me the repair option.  I only had the option to change and uninstall.  Below is a screenshot of my account page.  Changing of the mouse did not help either.
