Migrating Email from One Office365 Account to Another

Hi:

I'm on a Mac. Been using Office 365 and Outlook web version for years. Leaving company. Have permission to take my emails with me to new company. Have set up new O365 account but have no idea how to migrate emails from one account to the other.

Is it a question of reassigning the license to my new account?

Or do we have to go old school and download the PST file and then upload it back to the new account?

Thanks!

    Hi Matt,

The old school approach is possible, however, for this purpose, you can also use IMAP migration. For the following steps, you will need Office 365 admin in your new organization. Also, he will need to have your Office 365 credentials from your old organization so I strongly suggest you to check whether this is ok with your old organization.

The steps (if you decide to use this approach), please share these steps with your new organization Office 365 admin:

    • Create an account in new organization and add a license.
    • From Admin center go to Setup> Data migration> View migrations> Other email source.
    • Server name: Outlook.office365.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL
    • Add email address and the password from your old account.
    • In the next tab, select the new account, add the username and the password as required and start migration.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Nemanja

My new O365 account is personal, not Business. Can it work from it?

Well, I'm pretty sure it's Onmicrosoft, com, in that I signed up for the O365 full subscription and I can change my identity to my domain to use Outlook as my email app. Again, I only use the web version, to keep data off my Mac.

However, my default email address is ***********@outlook.com.

    Hi Matt,

This option works with another email accounts too (with different settings). However, I'd like to ask you about more details. When you refer to Office 365 personal account, is that Outlook.com or Onmicrosoft.com account? Or you are using third party like Gmail or Yahoo?

    Best regards,

    Nemanja
