MacOS Catalina and Microsoft Teams

Anonymous
2019-10-09T16:31:41+00:00

Briefly,

(1) Installed MacOS Catalina on MacBookPro on 10/08/2019

(2) Had a conference call today - shared my screen with Microsoft Teams

(3) All what other participants could see was a desktop image of Catalina Island, and NOT any PowerPoint or Chrome website, that I was sharing.

Any help in resolving this issue will be appreciated.

I believe I fixed the problem. You need to allow screen recording on MacOS Catalina. Go to "System Preferences", "Security and Privacy", scroll down to "Screen recording" and tick the box for "Microsoft Teams". This should solve the problem and people can see your shared desktop again.

@Cyril - After some further google searching I got mine working. There's a temporary work-around if you have Teams go into full-screen. Then it works. Back to window mode and it stopped working.

However, it seems that it isn't working in window mode due to a conflict with a 3rd party app. In my case it turned out to Brackets. I've seen other people report that Harvest has been the culprit. I suggest you close your apps one by one and see which one might be causing it.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Kasper,

After having made some investigation, apparently you have to close photos as it's blocking screen sharing with teams. If it's not photos then check the open application and close them one after the other to see which one is blocking the screen sharing feature of teams

I had the same issue where these other steps did not resolve. I had also reinstalled Microsoft Teams by pulling the newest version down from O365.

Even though I had Security & Privacy | Screen Recording -> Microsoft Teams checked, every time I went to share in teams, I would get the statement that it needs permission.

For me I did the following to resolve the issue:

    • Under Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Screen Recording, I had Microsoft Teams and it was checked.
    • Click the padlock and unlock to make changes
    • I went to Accessibility in the list.
    • Removed Microsoft Teams by highlighting it and clicking the dash
    • Click the + browse to the application and add it back in.
    • Checked the box
    • Relaunched Teams

I hope this helps someone else.

    -Cheers
