Recovering unsaved changes to a previously saved file?

I was working on a Powerpoint presentation using PowerPoint for Mac - Office 365 Subscription edition.  I had previously saved the file - then I think it got closed without saving the additional work.

I looked all over my hard drive ... also online locations.  I don't see a full version of the file anywhere.  Only the first version ... which only has half of my work.

Unfortunately, "auto save" was not turned on.

Does anyone have any ideas if the additional work I had done to the file might be saved somewhere on my computer?  Thanks for you help ... I sure don't want to try to recreate the file again :()

This is a good article to deal with recovering files. It's about Microsoft Word, but the same idea applies to PowerPoint and Excel, as well:

If you want to use automatic versions, the AutoSave is the way to go. Use File > Save As and choose OnLine locations (either OneDrive or SharePoint) to turn AutoSave on.

    There is another trick hope it will work. It is finding the temp. Folder.

    Here are steps to locate PowerPoint temp files on Mac.

    Go to Finder>Applications, then open Terminal;

    Input “open $TMPDIR” as following, then hit “Enter” to continue.

    Go to "TemporaryItems" folder.

    Find the unsaved PowerPoint file, copy to desktop and rename, then recover unsaved PowerPoint file on Mac by changing the extension from .tmp to .ppt.

    If you have Time Machine turned on, you may be able to find a more recent version there. Otherwise, your recent work is gone.
