Stop Excel Zooming in when editing the fill color or font color

When selecting a cell and formatting (different fill or font color, different font, different size) , excel will automatically zoom in on the selection. Is there a way to turn this off to prevent the automatic zoom?

I'm using version 1908 (Build 11929.20388). It seems like this was included in a recent update as I havent found any documentation on how to manage it in settings.

Yes, after doing the repair and a full restart the problem fixed itself.

To clarify the original issue - the sheet zoomed in when selecting a different cell font/color and the drop down was still open. After selecting a new font (and box closed) it automatically zoomed back out. This just started happening with the most recent update.

    Thanks for helping.

    Hi Justin,

    Sorry for this issue happened.

I tested at our end in 1908 Semi-Annual Targeted (Build 11929.20396) version which is the latest version in your channel, the cell or content won’t change the zoom when we fill the cell or edit font color.

To narrow down this issue, we suggest you try these ways to check the result:

    1.  Go to Excel-> File-> Account-> Update Option-> Update Now to use the latest version then see if the issue still occurs.

    1. Enter Apps&Features in search bar-> Office-> Modify-> Online Repair, some issue can be fixed by this.
    2. Run Excel insafe mode to avoid add-ins effects.

If the issue still persists, we need to collect more information to move further:

    1. Can you provide the screenshot of the Excel-> File-> Account-> Product Information page? Also the screenshot of this issue.

    1. Does this issue happen to all the Excel files even the new created one?
    2. Did this issue happen after the updates?

    Regards,

    Ivy
