Equations with non-default fonts

Hi,

Whenever I try to export my .docx file to a .pdf file in Office 365 Home, all the equations that use the default font for math regions (Cambria Math) are displayed correctly. However, any other math font that I use (like Latin Modern LM, for example) is displayed "pixeled" in the exported .pdf file.

As a countermeasure, I have already embedded all fonts into the document and also unchecked the PDF export option "Bitmap text when fonts may not be embedded", but the problem persists. Any inputs?

    Hi Bob,

I've uploaded a screenshot of both .docx file and the exported .pdf file. As you can see, the equation in Latin Modern Math font is exported pixeled (even with all fonts embedded into the document) and with missing parentheses.

The equation editor seems to offer incomplete support for other fonts than the default. You should post feedback for Microsoft via https://word.uservoice.com.

I can reproduce problems with Latin Modern in equations, although not the pixelation that Arthur mentioned. (The Latin Modern fonts are available from the GUST foundry at http://www.gust.org.pl/projects/e-foundry/latin-modern among other places.)

This is the screen display in Word (Office 365 version 1909, build 12026.20264, 64-bit), with the first equation in Cambria Math and the second equation in Latin Modern:

This is the result of saving that document as PDF:

The parentheses of f(x), the pi characters and the x that follows them, and the large sigma are all missing, and the space around the sigma covers some of the adjacent characters.

    Hi,

I downloaded and installed the Latin Modern LM font for equations from http://www.gust.org.pl/projects/e-foundry/latin-modern. I can also reproduce the issues mentioned by Jay Freedman

I am able to send you the video recording next week (I am traveling on business and my desktop is at work)

    Arthur

    Hi Arthurcampos,

I have tried replicating your issue but the font is not available in the Word app by default.  I want to clarify where did you get the fonts? Please send us a video recording of this concern so that we can have a better idea of the issue. You can provide a link using the OneDrive app to share the file. Click here for more information.

    We'll wait for your response.

    Bob
