Office 2007-any expiry period

Office 2007 was loaded on my Sony A10 Windows Vista which is 10+ years old.

Today I was asked to key in my 25 letter product key. I did but Microsoft say it is the wrong key. It then proceed to cancel my access to Word and I have not been able to type any document. I am not aware Office has a time period on its life. I suppose Microsoft now wants me to buy another newer version to load on my PC before I can continue to use my Word which is daylight robbery and downright unfair.

Microsoft has a right not to update Windows XP and Vista but not to force users to purchase a newer version of Office 2007.

This seems to go against business ethics and breach consumer rights no matter which way you look at it.

This is entirely incorrect. Office 2007 will continue to run indefinitely in Windows 7, and it also runs fine under Windows 10. If it has not been uninstalled, it does not need to be reinstalled. The request for a product key may be coming from an Office 365 trial downloaded with a Windows update.

    Confirming that:

    1. The license on Office 2007 is perpetual. That does not mean it will necessarily work on new equipment or operating systems. It does not expire. Word 2007 was particularly problematic, in my opinion. I never liked it. It is no longer supported / updated.
    2. Word 2007 runs on Windows 10. I have it running on my system as I type this. I join Suzanne in suggesting that some virus may be trying to scam you.

In the meantime, Office Online is available and free. It is not the same, but it should let you at least open and edit your documents.

I did surf the Net and found many sharing the same problem. They were asked to register their Product Key and were unsuccessful. Their Word 207 stop working after a grace period. When they approached Microsoft, they were asked to buy a new Word 2007 OS. End of argument. The alternative Ubuntu or Apache Open Word which is free.

    I am not arguing.

I do not work for nor represent Microsoft. No one who has responded to your question does.

That the problem is widespread does not mean it originates with Microsoft. This is a logical fallacy.

I am running Word 2007 on Windows 10 without any problem or any requests for activation. It was installed on this system about a year ago and activated at that time. You may want to consider whether any "scam" is caused by a virus rather than Microsoft.

my Windows Office 2007 stopped running after I did not register my product key request today after over 10 years since installed.. I am currently using  on Win 2007 until deactivated by M/Soft. I have never opt to run 365. There was no trial and no basis to stop me using my 2007. Its a scam.
