Remove old OneDrive Business/organisational account and replace with new one

Hi, just wondering if I could get some help please!

I'm going crazy as to why I can't seem to sort my problem out!

Basically last academic year, I was in college and we were given an email address which we could use to download Microsoft Office, signing in through their organisational account for OneDrive.

Now, I'm at university with a different email address, and a different OneDrive account. I can't seem to remove the old college organisational account off my OneDrive on my Mac and it's frustrating me, as I can't save my work I now do on my Mac directly to my OneDrive account where I save all my university work. I've tried deleting every file linked to that account that was saved. I've even tried uninstalling Microsoft Office entirely, hoping it would start fresh and I could log in with new university drive, yet as soon as I load up OneDrive, straight away the college organisational account log in page comes up.

Is this something Microsoft can sort or would I have to contact my former college?

Many thanks!

Dear Sophiejl,

I first suggest you click on the OneDrive sync client for Mac’s icon>More>Preference>Account>check whether the old work or school account is there. If yes, back up all synced files related to the old work or school account, click on Unlink this Mac and remove the local OneDrive sync folder related to the old work or school account if it is on your Mac>restart the Mac and then do a test to see the result.

Meanwhile, do the following to check the outcome as well.

  1. Sign out of the account from all Office for Mac applications and back up all Office files.
  2. Open Spotlight by selecting the magnifying glass at the top right of your desktop.
  3. Search for and open Keychain.
  4. In the search field, enter adal.
  5. Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:<GUID>, and then press Delete.
  6. In the search field, enter office.
  7. Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete.
  8. Quit Keychain Access.
  9. Navigate to <YourUserName>Library > Group Containers.
  10. Find the folders below and move them to Trash.

UBF8T346G9.ms

UBF8T346G9.Office

UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost

Warning: Outlook data will be removed when you move the three folders listed in this step to Trash. You should back up these folders before you delete them.

  1. Restart the Mac and do a test again.

Moreover, we have a specific channel coping with the OneDrive for Business related issues and questions with more resources further. If the suggestions above don’t work, I suggest you click on the OneDrive sync client for Mac’s icon>More>Get Help to report the issue to our related team directly for further help.

Best Regards,

Cliff

I struggled with the problem of removing an account.  Exploring the folders I found this file:

    ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command

I searched for it, found this one, ran the process, and just had to re-sign in again to the active account.  It did try and sync everything, I didn't need that
