I just fixed this issue (hopefully not just temporarily) by increasing the disk space to use for temporary internet files:
. 1. From Internet Explorer, go to Tools/Internet Options
. 2. On the General tab, click the Settings button under “Browsing history”
. 3. Increase the “Disk space to use”. It was at 512 for this machine, and I expanded it to 1024 MB
. 4. Click OK to exit
This was a Win7 machine using Office 2010

I may have a solution here for it. When you click on “add attachments” and the window opens up for you to select the file, right before selecting the word file click on the box on the top right corner which will close the preview panel
of the selected file. Now try to upload the file, you shouldn’t get the annoying pop-up message anymore. Hope this helps!

Follow the steps in this trouble shooting tip: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555220
. *
Disregard the Symptoms and start with Method 3. For Word 2007 change the following:
1. Click the Office Button, click Word Options and in the Trust Center settings, click the Trust Center Settings button
2. In the Macro Settings, select “Disable all macros with notification”
. *
For steps 4-6, you’ll find the options noted on the Trusted Locations or Trusted Publishers tab
.
For Method 4, use this link for the Process Explorer:

.
In order to provide any additionally ideas we need to know the outcome of:
. * if the error continues to occur after starting Word using the /a switch, and if it doesn’t
.
* if you’ve worked through the trouble shooting articles and tried everything suggested—even if you think a trouble shooting step may not be applicable.
