Report message button(addin) is missing for some users

Hi All,

We have published an Office add-in via Centralized Deployment. Followed the steps here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/publish/centralized-deployment

We have around 100 users and almost all of them have the Report Message button(addin) in Outlook desktop client. We only have around 5-10 users who's experiencing the issue and the weird thing is, the 5-10 users whos experiencing the issue changes from time to time. Meaning, the users whos not experiencing the issue atm might experience it after some time and the users who's experiencing the issue might not experience it after some time but the point is, there's always users who's experiencing the issue.

I've already tried removing the published addin, waited for about 24 hours then re-deployed it.

Is there anythings else I can check or any ts that I can try? Thank you!

    Hi Shawn,

I haven't seen any errors. When it is available, there's no issues with its functionality. The problem is, it's missing from the Outlook desktop client.

    Hi RaizelX,

I'm sorry for reply you late. From my guess, this abnormal behaviour may occur if a conflict with a plug-in or an add-in causes the Junk Email Reporting Add-in to become disabled.

Try to let the users re-enable this add-in in their desktop Outlook client:

    • On the File menu, click Options, and then click Add-Ins.
    • In the Manage list box, make sure that COM Add-ins is selected, and then click Go.
    • Click to select the Microsoft Junk E-mail Reporting Add-in check box.
    • Click OK.
    • Restart Outlook.

Let me know if this helps.

    Best,

    Shawn

    Hi RaizelX,

Thanks for reaching us in community.

For the Office Add-ins, we should first check if there any error information when it fails to work functioning.

The following table lists common error messages that users might encounter and steps that your users can take to resolve the errors.

    Error message Resolution
App error: Catalog could not be reached Verify firewall settings."Catalog" refers to AppSource. This message indicates that the user cannot access AppSource.
APP ERROR: This app could not be started. Close this dialog to ignore the problem or click "Restart" to try again. Verify that the latest Office updates are installed.
Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'defineProperty' Confirm that Internet Explorer is not running in Compatibility Mode. Go to Tools > Compatibility View Settings.
Sorry, we couldn't load the app because your browser version is not supported. Click here for a list of supported browser versions. Make sure that the browser supports HTML5 local storage, or reset your Internet Explorer settings. For information about supported browsers, see<br>Requirements for running Office Add-ins.

If this add-in problem still cannot be resolved via the above methods, please kindly share us the error page your users had, so that we can make a better analysis on it.

    Best,

    Shawn
