ACCESS ASSET TRACKING TEMPLATE

I intend to use the Asset Tracking template available in Access. I do not want to make many changes with the exception of currency. I do wish to include photographs of the assets but find that when I click Attachments" button nothing happens. Maybe I am being a bit silly but do I need to upload the attachments somehow and how do I get the database to locate them?

Might be worth getting some more information first Scott to narrow down what is being affected. It works exactly as it should for me and has no missing attachment field in the assets table.... No problems whatsoever. the following is my install details:

Yes I was aware of that. But you really should mark my response as not resolved until we research this more.

I downloaded the template into my 2016 installation and encountered the same behavior. When I tried further I got an error message that a macro command wasn't available. Further research found there was an error in the template design. The Assets table has no Attachments field! That's why it doesn't work. So you need to go into Design mode of the Assets table and add the Attachments field. Next you need to go into Design Mode of the Assets Details form. Select the Attachments control and make sure the ControlSource is set to the Attachments field. It should work then.

Scott, Thank you very much that seems to have solved the problem. I may require assistance again as I progress with building and amending the database for my purposes. Once again thank you for your help.

Hi Scott, The database is one offered when logging into access. Within the database when selecting a new item a form appears and within that form the option to "Add or Remove Attachments". When pressed this does not open a dialog box. I am afraid I do not know how to repair my installation.

Hi Peter, I'm an independent adviser and will try to help.

Are you using a form to select attachments? What should happens when you click on a control bound to an attachment data type is a dialog box should open so your can select the file you want to attach. If that is not happening you should try and repair your office installation.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll look into it further.
