I have lot of auto text entries in word 2010, they were working fine before, but now they work only if i insert them in table.

They also work if I press F3 but in table I don't have to press F3.

The symptoms you've mentioned so far are all highly unusual. It's possible that you have an add-in that's interfering with Word's normal operations, or that some setting in the Normal.dotm template or in the registry is incorrect or damaged.

Please use the troubleshooting steps in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/word/issues-when-start-or-use-word -- but leave the registry changes (steps 3 and 4) until after you've tried all the other steps without success.

    Hi

Show AutoComplete suggestions is checked. It was working before but now it works only in the table.

If I create 1x1 table all auto text entries works even without pressing F3. I also noticed that if page is in Draft mode it works. It does not work in "print layout mode"

At File > Options > Advanced, is the option to "Show AutoComplete suggestions" selected?

In addition, for the AutoComplete suggestions to work, the names of AutoText entries must be unique, and the first four letters must be different between different entries.

Word 2010 was the victim of an odd alteration by Microsoft: the AutoComplete tooltips work only for AutoText entries stored in the Normal.dotm template. I wasn't aware that using an entry in a table does work, but that's possibly just an oversight that complicated the initial mistake. Microsoft corrected the behavior for later versions. (I assume that you know that Word 2010 is very long out of support, so there won't be any fixes for your computer unless you replace it with a current version.)

If your AutoText entries are stored in Building Blocks.dotx or some other template instead of Normal.dotm, you can move them to Normal.dotm -- although only one at a time. To do that, click Insert > Quick Parts > Building Block Organizer. Click the name of an AutoText entry and click the Edit Properties button. In the Modify Building Block dialog, open the "Save in" dropdown and select Normal.dotm; then click OK.

You'll be prompted whether to redefine the building block entry; click Yes. Repeat this procedure for each remaining AutoText entry.

When you shut down Word you may get two prompts, one about saving the template that the entries were removed from, and one about saving Normal.dotm. Click Save in both prompts.
