I have the same problem described here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/how-do-i-prevent-a-field-from-updating-when-i-open/b5d9aeb7-bb35-44ff-bb59-cc084b230ca1.

Office 2019, licensed, Update automatic links on Open unchecked, Ctrl+Shift+F9 not working, Ctrl+F11 not working.

Please! Help me!

Thanks

Sergio

Assuming taht you are not including the chapter number in the caption and assuming that you are using the same identifier in the SEQ fields, it would be necessary to add the \r 1 switch to the first caption in each chapter to force the numbering to re-start at 1

Hi I am an independent advisor and hoping to help you today.

How about the suggested fix by Jay Freedman in below link?

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/fo...

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Are those automatic responses? I clearly stated, already in the question that all those solution did not help.

Topic can be closed although I think that it could be useful for people to see there is another way to workaround the problem in case the other fixes did not work (as for my case).

Using CTRL+a followed by CTRL+SHIFT+F9 should unlink the fields (convert the result to ordinary text), while CTRL+F11 should lock the fields.

If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

Did not work. If it could help it was a big file made of different chapters. In any chapter the numbering of the pictures was starting from 1. But it was updating when transferring to pdf. I have been able to fix this issue by:

Right click on the number of the caption of the first figure for each chapter. Visualized field text.

    Added \r 1 between brackets

    Update
