Is it possible to show paragraph marks and hidden formatting symbols in Windows 10 Word documents? I have tried umpteen searches and can't find anything to answer my question.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work as I am using Windows 10. There is no 'option' when I click on File. I have tried using Microsoft help but there is no reference.

I have used the show/hide option for more than 20 years but I have never had to contend with the horrific swamp monster that is Windows 10.

I'm so wishing I could go back to Windows 7. At least it was 1000% more user friendly than 10.

If you have other ideas please let me know.

    Hi Dawnakins

Here some steps to show these:

    1. To show the formatting marks: Press Control+Shift+*. Press those three keys again to hide the formatting marks.
    2. Alternatively, click the paragraph symbol in the Paragraphs section of the Home tab.
    3. File - Options - Display - Always show these formatting marks on the screen, and choose paragraph marks.

Since Microsoft has chosen to require every living creature with a computer to use Windows 10 there is no light at the end of the very long, dark tunnel. I've already tried your suggestion to no avail. I despise Windows 10... it is NOT user friendly nor does it have the features I've used for most of the 40 years I was a secretary. But I do appreciate your trying to help.

It should be in the HOME Tab right here.

You've posted a question about Word in the PowerPoint section of the forum. I see there are several answers already that explain how to show formatting marks in Word.  If you really did mean to ask about Word, then you're good to go.

If you meant to ask about PowerPoint, there's no way to do this other than via a free add-in I can point you to if you need it.
