Unable to use Latin Modern Math as equation font

Some time ago I was using the Latin Modern Math font (avalible here : http://www.gust.org.pl/projects/e-foundry/lm-math/download/index_html) as the font for my equations. This was a couple of years ago (on a different machine and Word 2016 iirc).

Well I'd like to revist and revise some of the documents I did during that time but can no longer set Latin Modern Math to be my equation font. :(

I see the font has been discussed before (largely due to the pixelation issue cause by it being the "wrong type" of the font standard).  But my issue is I can't get it set at all! :(

The steps I'm following are:

Alt + =  (insert the equation)

Navigate to equation ribbon

Expand option on conversion to bring up the "Equation options"

Select the drop down for "Default font for math regions"

At this point I have several math fonts avalible which I have previously installed, but not Latin modern math

(for instance the Libertinus Math avalible here https://ctan.org/pkg/libertinus-fonts).

Likewise higlighting a "math" part of an equation and selecting Latin Modern Math has no effect on the font used. Whilst, if I select one of the other math fonts, Word behaves as expected and changes the equation math element to the selected font.

If I load one of my old files, the equations display as Latin Modern Math, however new charactors entered into one of the existing equations are in the current default equation font.

Any thoughts on why Latin Modern is no longer working?

(Using Office 365, Word version 2002 Build 12527.20278 click to run / MSO 16.12527.20278 64 bit) on Windows 10.

Thanks,

JP

Many Thanks for looking into it. (To summarise the below, knowing I should be able to use the font enabled me to locate and cure myissue).

The font was avalible for the user I was logged in as (and could be used on standard text).  For good measure I uninstalled the font (first checking the file path), confirmed the file has been removed by checking the windows\fonts folder for the file using command prompt and dir, then reinstalled it for all users by selecting the .oft font file -> alternate click -> install for all users.

Again the font was avalible as a standard font, but not appearing as in the equation font dropdown and was not applied to equation objects when I had them highlighted and try to directly apply it, (Direct formatting does work with the other maths fonts).

So, next up I created a new local user with admin privileges. The font appeared in the equation font dropdown box for that new user (The others did not as they were not installed for all users).

I re-logged on to my account, removed all the other Math fonts exept Cambria math. Reloaded Word, the font was still not appearing as an equation font.

I've previously experiemented with converting with converting the otf to a ttf to enable Word to correctly embed it in pdf files (Rather than as a bitmap as previous posters have had issues with). Although I'm reinstalling the OTF from a new download, it now occured to me it's possible that Word has cached some information somewhere that this font is a standard font not a math font, Maybe a registry entry which isn't removed when the font in uninstalled...

*Disclaimer - Manual eding of the registry can break your computer!*

Sure enough searching on a few choice terms I find the following section of the registry Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\MathFonts with an entry for Latin Modern Math set to 0 while fonts such as Cambria Math had the value 1, setting it to 1 for Latin Modern Math seems to resolve my issue.

Thanks again for confirming that it should work, that set me down the right path for fixing it :)

Using the same version and build of a 64-bit installation of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, I just downloaded the Latin Modern Match font from the link that you provided and then installed it for all users.

Then the Latin Modern Math font does appear in the Default font for math regions dropdown of the Equation Options dialog

and applying that font to a selected equation results in the following display

Do you have the font installed for All Users?  If not, maybe you are not logged in as the User for whom it was installed.

You might try deleting the font from the Windows>Fonts folder and then re-install it.
