I am trying to use WORD to make Business Cards. 45 minutes later I am giving up

I spent some time in the support "community" and found that others are having the same issue.

One guy responded to his own post saying he found an answer but he didn't know how he found it. And then the thread was locked.  These are the kind of experiences that make people toss machines out windows.    F  R  U  S  T  R  A  T  I  N  G, to say the least.

Really guys, somethings you should leave alone

(Alternatively you can add an "OK BOOMER" button that adds a menu overlay which tells us where you have hidden all of the old features.)

Please give yourselves a single digit salute from me!

The layout you can achieve is limited by what can be created inside a table cell. My business cards are fairly simple (created in Publisher), but I would not want to try to replicate them in Word.

I find Copy/Paste more efficient than converting the document unnecessarily to a label layout. It requires only one Paste; try it!

The layout that you can achieve in Word is only limited by your imagination.

Also, an easy way to replicate the set up of the first card to the other cards on the sheet, is, after you have that set up, click on the Start Mail Merge dropdown and select Labels and then when the Labels dialog appears, click no Cancel and then use the Update Labels option and then delete the «Next Record» field from each of the labels.

Word is not the ideal program for making business cards. If you have Publisher, I would advise using that instead. But you can do it in Word if you're satisfied with a pretty simple layout. In the Labels dialog, click Options... and select the Avery (or other vendor) label definition for printable business cards (such as Avery 27871, 27883, 28371, 28877, 28878, 38373, etc.--they're all the same). Click OK to go back to the dialog and click New Document to get a sheet of the cards. They're set up as a table, so make sure you have table gridlines displayed so you can see the label boundaries. Set up one card the way you want it, then copy that cell, select the whole table, and paste.
