Can't find a working solution for the data form in Excel (Office 365)

I use Office 365 on my macbook pro.  This includes the newest version of Excel for mac which is v16.34.

I have read a lot about the form that is not anymore available in this Excel version, but I really need it.

I would love to have it back in my Ribbon, just don't know how to do it.

Please can anyone help me out? I am from The Netherlands, so my English is not to good. Sorry! ;-)

Kindest regards,

Claudie

    Hi Claudie,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you want to use Data Entry Form this feature.

If so, as Jim mentioned, we’re afraid that there is no out of box way to use this feature in Excel for Mac. We are sorry the it doesn’t meet your requirement.

To address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you kindly vote this UserVoice: Restore data form functionality (different from VBA UserForms). This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others. Or you can also provide feedback to our related team by clicking on the Smiley Face button inside Excel. This feedback will directly go to them so that our related team can hear your voice on this feature directly.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best Regards,

    Sukie

    Hi again Claudie,

Sukie provided a link to the source that I used to provide you with the information that the built-in data form is no longer provided and Microsoft's suggestion to simply type in the grid.

However, there is more to the story. It is possible to make your own input form, and it's not all that hard to do except you need to make this in Excel for Windows because the UserForm editor is not in Excel for Mac. So, if you would please take a moment to vote for supporting the userform editor on the Mac, that would be great. Here's the link for voting:

Enable VBA Support for creating and editing UserForms (not the Data Form)

Userforms made in Excel for Windows work in Excel for Mac. The only missing component is the editor for making and editing UserForms on the Mac.

If you have access to Excel for Windows, you can see that making a basic input form is pretty simple:

Creating VBA Form in Excel for Data Entry

There's a very nice video that shows a little more elaborate example. This one is considerably better than the old built-in data entry form, and again, it is not all that hard to make (if you have Excel for Windows).

The data form no longer exists, which means you can't use it at all. I am not aware of an add-in that is currently available that would suit your purpose.

Microsoft suggests simply entering data in the grid.
