Word Conditional Formatting

Hi,

Can I identify a word or phrase and format it in a particular way whenever it appears in my document?  For example, can my product name - Ace Product - be formatted italic bold whenever I type it?

This can probably be done with a Macro, but I'm trying to avoid Macros so if there's a built in method, that would be better.

If there is nothing built in, then up to now we've been using the "Find In" option in "Advanced Find..." then making the format change on everything selected.  But can this be used with Format Painter?

Thanks in advance for your help, you wonderful people.

You could do the following:

  • Type Ace Product in a document, and format it the way you want.
  • Select the text Ace Product.
  • Select File > Options.
  • Select Proofing in the navigation pane on the left.
  • Click the AutoCorrect Options... button.
  • You'll see Ace Product in the With box.
  • Click the option button Formatted text.
  • Type an abbreviation (without spaces) in the Replace box, for example AP.
  • Click Add, then click OK twice.
  • Each time you type AP followed by a space or punctuation, it'll be changed to Ace Product.
